County police report
The following is a summary of incidents in the 1st District (Rockville) and the 4th District (Wheaton-Glenmont) to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
1st District
Carjacking
-On June 28 at 6:20 p.m., in the 15100 block of Frederick Road in Rockville. A man threw down a woman, kicked her and took her vehicle. The woman knew the man. A 31-year-old man from Montgomery Village was arrested at a relative's house and the vehicle was recovered the following day.
Attempted armed robbery
-On July 1 at 2:25 p.m., in the 14500 block of Avery Road in Rockville. A man said he was working on his vehicle when three men approached and demanded the vehicle. During a struggle, the victim suffered a laceration to his leg. The attempted robbers fled on foot on Avery Road towards Southlawn Lane.
Strong-arm robbery
-On July 2 at 4:15 p.m. in the 12500 block of Parklawn Drive in Rockville. A woman was at her vehicle when a man came from behind, shoved her, took her keys and drove off in her vehicle. A 28-year-old man from Bladensburg was arrested in the vehicle on July 5 in the 3rd District.
-On June 30 at 11:25 p.m. outside McDonalds, 2101 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville. A male employee was bringing food to a customer when a man pushed him and took the food. He and two other men were last seen fleeing to the area of Twinbrook Parkway and Linthicum Street.
Pickpocket
-On July 1 at 1:31 p.m. at Safeway, 14939 Shady Grove Road in Rockville. A man distracted a woman by asking where items on sale were located. Another man took her wallet from her purse. One man is described as black, 40-50, 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, 200 pounds, dark complexion, wearing a black dress shirt and grey dress pants. The second is described as white, 30-35, mustache, wearing a black baseball cap, white uniform shirt and blue BDU pants.
Vehicle theft
-14100 block of Saddle River Drive in North Potomac, overnight between July 3 and 4. A 2009 Hyundai Elantra was stolen by three men.
Vehicle larceny
-1400 block of Thornden Road in Rockville, between 10:30 p.m. July 4 and 12:30 a.m. July 5. Stereo taken.
-600 block of Crabb Avenue in Rockville, at 2:32 a.m. June 28. Vehicle left unlocked; property taken.
-300 block of Crabb Avenue in Rockville, between 9:30 p.m. June 30 and 7 p.m. July 1. Vehicle left unlocked; coins, cell phone taken.
-300 block of Crabb Avenue in Rockville, between 9:30 p.m. June 30 and 7 p.m. July 1. Unknown entry; coins taken.
-Shady Grove Metro Station, 15902 Somerville Drive in Derwood, during daytime hours on June 30. Windows broken in four vehicles in the west parking lot; GPS taken.
Commercial burglary
-The Mega Mart, 11790 Parklawn Drive in Rockville, between 1:50 and 8:05 a.m. July 5. Forced entry; property taken. One burglar is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, black long-sleeved shirt and jeans. Another is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, 180-200 pounds, wearing a yellow cloth over his face, black short-sleeved shirt and black gloves.
-Forbidden Fruit, 825 Rockville Pike in Rockville, at 10:50 p.m. July 3. Forced entry; nothing taken. Burglar is described as a black male, 20-30, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, 130-170 pounds, wearing grey knit hat, white T-shirt, black pants, black shoes and black backpack.
Residential burglary
-5000 block of Macon Road in North Bethesda, at an unknown time on July 6. Unknown entry; property taken.
-1900 block of Lewis Avenue in Rockville, between 10 a.m. and 11:15 p.m. June 29. No sign of forced entry; property taken.
-300 block of Deer Meadow Lane in Rockville, between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 3. Unknown entry; nothing taken.
-14200 block of Pleasant Meadow Court in North Potomac, between 10 p.m. June 28 and 6:30 a.m. June 29. Vehicle left unlocked in front of residence. Burglars used garage door remote to open the garage door; property taken.
-14800 block of Dufief Drive in North Potomac, between 11 a.m. June 30 and 6: 40 a.m. July 1. No forced entry to garage; property taken.
4th District
Aggravated assault
-On July 2 at 4:39 p.m. in the 8700 block of Gilbert Place in Silver Spring. A person known to the victim threatened to harm the victim and fired a shot into the ceiling.
-On July 4 at 10:57 p.m. in the 600 block of Sonata Way in Silver Spring. A 34-year-old man was arrested after he threatened his landlord with a knife at the residence.
-On June 29 at 12:44 a.m. in the 1700 block of Kiva Road in Silver Spring. Domestic-related physical assault. A 24-year-old male was arrested.
-On July 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road in Aspen Hill. Domestic related. A 27-year-old female was arrested.
-On July 6 at 1:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of Randolph Road in Wheaton. A man was on foot when a vehicle pulled up next to him and the passenger displayed a gun. The victim ran east on Randolph and flagged down county police. The vehicle, described as a dark-colored Dodge Charger or Magnum, continued west on Randolph.
-On July 4 at 3:30 a.m. at Carmody and Alberti drives in Silver Spring. Two people were outside talking when they saw a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one-way street. After the people called out that the car was going the wrong way, the passenger in the vehicle displayed a gun, threatened them and continued driving. The suspect vehicle is described as a black SUV, possible Durango or Explorer, with Maryland tags.
Robbery
-On July 5 at 7:20 p.m. in the lot of a Shell station, 11150 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring. Two male teenagers approached two juvenile male victims and demanded property. The robbers took personal property and fled on foot. The robbers are described as black males, 14-17, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with one wearing a shirt with a comic book theme on the front.
-On July 5 at 9:20 p.m. in the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive in Silver Spring. An 18-year-old male was approached by three males who demanded cash. When he did not comply, one robber displayed a knife and took personal property, then fled on foot. The robbers are described as black males, 15-17, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140-150 pounds, and two black females, 13-14, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall.
-On June 30 at 1:13 a.m. in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. Two robbers approached a man as he sat in his vehicle in a parking lot, displayed a gun and demanded his property. A 26-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, both from Silver Spring, were arrested.
-On July 2 at 1:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 3300 block of Teagarden Circle in Silver Spring. Two men approached a juvenile male and searched him. One robber implied he had a weapon but none was seen. The robbers fled on foot with the victim's personal property. The robbers are described as two black males, 17-18, 5 feet 4 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, dreadlocks.
Armed robbery
-On July 2 at 1:22 p.m. at Sutherland Road and Lanark Way in Silver Spring. Two men approached the victims and demanded money. A fight ensued and one robber displayed a gun and assaulted a second victim before fleeing. A 17-year-old male from Silver Spring and an 18-year-old male from Olney were arrested a short time later.
-On July 3 at 7:07 p.m. in the 9000 block of Manchester Road in Silver Spring. Two men approached the victim; one displayed a knife and demanded cash. They fled on foot. Unknown whether anything was taken. The robbers are described as two black males, with one described as having three star tattoos under his left eye.
-On July 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. A juvenile male was approached by six men, one of whom displayed a knife and demanded and took personal property. They fled on foot.
-On July 5 at 1:25 a.m. in the 2800 block of Shepperton Terrace in Silver Spring. Two robbers approached two men, and one displayed a shotgun. The robbers searched the victims and took personal property before fleeing in a black Lincoln or Cadillac.
-On July 5 at 5 a.m. at a bus stop in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. Three men approached a man, and one displayed a gun and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied and the robbers fled on foot. The robbers are described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 150-190 pounds, dreadlocks.
Strong-arm robbery
-On June 30 at 4 a.m. in the area of University Boulevard and Buckingham Drive. Two men approached another man who fled and was chased and knocked down by the assailants. The robbers took personal property.
-On July 3 at 2 p.m. in front of the Brazilian Market, 11425 Grandview Ave. in Wheaton. A person was physically assaulted and property was taken.
Vehicle larceny
-14900 block of Windmill Terrace, between 8:30 p.m. June 28 and 6:15 a.m. June 29. Vehicle left unlocked; loose change, credit/debit cards taken.
-500 block of Hawkesbury Lane, between 8:05 p.m. June 30 and 8 a.m. July 1. Vehicle left unlocked; loose change, credit/debit cards taken.
