Sharks suffer loss
to Smallwood
The Fort Washington Sharks dropped to 1-3 in the Prince-Mont Swim League with a 305 1/2-269 1/2 loss to the Smallwood Marlins on Saturday. But Akeyla Holley provided a highlight for the Sharks when she broke a 33-year-old Fort Washington Pool record in the 11-12 girls' butterfly with a time of 33.2 seconds. Holley won two events, and Marlena Fernandez captured three victories in the girls' 15-18 division. Arthur Walton was a triple winner in the 15-18 boys' division.
Kiara Leath won two events in the 11-12 girls' bracket, and Gaby Griffin was a double winner in the girls' 13-14 division. Single winners for Fort Washington included Akilah Jeffries, Madison Thompkins, Jared Saunders, Marcus Dennis and Basem Magd.
Fort Washington will finish its regular season with a home meet against Indian Head on Saturday and then will travel to Indian Head on July 24 for the Division D meet.
