First team

Coach of Year

Mark Sunkel


The Lancers’ head coach guided his team to the Frederick County team title after a 9-8 season mark and had two of his players, brothers Mike and Steve Lesko compete for the county singles title.

Player of the Year

Mike Lesko


In his sophomore season captured the Frederick County Tournament boys singles championship this season and earned a spot in the state tournament, finishing second in the Region I tournament.

Danny Deutsch, South Carroll

Finished second in the Carroll County Championships’ boys singles division. and was named the County’s Player of the Year.

Steve Lesko, Linganore

Finished second in county championships behind older brother Mike.

Tommy Maerz, Middletown

He and twin sister Emily to win the Frederick County and Region titles and place thid in the state tournament.

Andrew Lopez, Middletown

Also earned a spot in the Region tournament by placing third in the county tourney.

Trevor Smith, Urbana

Combined with Michelle Voigt to gain a berth in Region tournament by placing second in the county mixed doubles bracket.

Tom Seymour⁄Erik Prochnow, Urbana

Teamed up to capture the Frederick County doubles title. Was a key element for a team that finished the regular season with a record of 15-2 overall, sharing the Monocacy Valley Athletic League’s Chesapeake Conference title.

Tim Nicodemus⁄Charlie Leonard, Walkersville

Competitive tandem finished second in the county doubles tournament and advanced to Region I play. Key players for the Lions, who maintained their hold on the MVAL Piedmont Conference team championship.
