Sharks swim past Adelphi The Fort Washington Sharks swim team earned its first victory this summer, a 285-254 effort against Adelphi Recreation in Prince-Mont League action on Saturday, winning 28 of the 47 events. Gabriel Stevenson was a first-time triple winner in the 8-and-under girls’ freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke. In the boys’ 9-10 events, Don Brazelton won the butterfly, free and back, the latter in a personal best. Also winning three events were Becca Bonomo (11-12 girls) in the fly, breast and individual medley in a personal best, Arthur Walton (13-14 boys) in season-best times in the fly, breast and back, and Prescott Stewart (15-18 boys) in the fly, breast and IM. Akeyla Holley and Marcus Dennis both swam their fastest times for the season, claiming two races each — Holley in the 9-10 girls and 11-12 boys’ free and breast. Cara Brennan won the 13-14 girls’ breast and back in personal bests. Gabby Griffin (11-12 girls) established a new mark in the 11-12 girls’ free and was runner-up in the IM. In the same group, Tori Carmardella also had a new personal best in winning the back. In the U-8 boys, Brian Wynn won the back and erased six seconds off of his personal best, while Jonathan Brevard earned his first win of the summer in the 15-18 boys’ back. Colleen McFadden won the 15-18 girls’ fly. Brazelton, Dennis, Walton and Stewart won the boys’ graduated relay, and Holley, Griffin, Brennan and McFadden won the girls’ graduated relay. Dream Makers finish fourth The Dream Makers U-8 boys’ basketball team took fourth place last week in the AAU National Championships in Memphis. The team includes Darius Johnson, Aaron Datcher, Aaron Thompson, Saddiq Bey, Rasir Bolton, Justice Hubbard, Xavier Johnson, Ed Lee, Jordan Heard, Terry Woods, Drew Miller, Jalen Simons and Camaron Spence under coaches Tony Thompson, Brian Hubbard and Kelvin Johnson.
