Sixth suspect arrested in King Farm home-invasion robbery
Man, 20, arrested in Baltimore, charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder
The sixth suspect Montgomery County Police say was involved in a home-invasion robbery was arrested on Tuesday night. The robbery, in the King Farm neighborhood of Rockville, sent two people to the hospital last week.
Howard Bay Diggs, 20, of an unknown address, was arrested in Baltimore and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and use of a handgun in a felony, police reported.
He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville.
Police previously charged Alex D. Harris, 19, of an unconfirmed address in Washington, D.C., and Traimne M. Allen, 26, of an unknown address, with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
They are being held without bond at the detention center.
Police also charged Lazoya S. King, 21, Shavon M. Jackson, 20, and Chanel A. Fletcher, 16, all of unconfirmed addresses in Washington, D.C., with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Fletcher and Jackson are being held on $250,000 bond and King is held on $25,000 bond, police said.
Preliminary hearings are set for Harris, Allen, King and Jackson on July 24. The preliminary hearing for Fletcher is set for Thursday.
Around 2:10 a.m. on June 24, 1st District police conducting surveillance in the area of the 400 block of Elmcroft Boulevard in Rockville saw a man and the three women get out of a black Hyundai and go into an apartment, said Lucille Baur, a Montgomery County Police spokeswoman.
As the group entered, police saw a group of three masked men get out of a green Buick LeSabre and run into the same apartment, Baur said.
The three women left the apartment and then several gunshots were fired inside, Baur said. The three masked men fled on foot, she said.
Police saw Harris, one of the masked men, toss a gun away as he ran, but he was quickly caught and had stolen property with him at the time, Baur said.
The three women were arrested at the scene as well.
Allen, the second of the three masked men, was found and taken into custody the next day, police said.
The two injured victims were taken to an area hospital. One, a 23-year-old man, was shot in the upper body, police said. He remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is expected to survive.
The other, a 29-year-old man, was stabbed in the arm and was released from the hospital, police said.
A third man was inside the apartment at the time of the attack but hid and escaped injury, police said.
Police said the three women conspired with the three masked men to rob the victims who were shot and stabbed.
Correction: The subhead of this story wrongly said Howard Bay Diggs was charged with first-degree murder. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder.
