Alleged burglar killed in Forestville home invasion Monday
Policy say that man and two others forced entry into apartment
At approximately 9 a.m., a man inside a unit at the Forest Village Apartment Homes in the 4400 block of Rena Road shot and killed the alleged burglar as he and two other men forced their way through the front door of the apartment, said Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department.
The man died at a local hospital and has not yet been identified by police.
"The victim had his own weapon," Rodriguez said, adding it appeared the shooting was in the tenant's self-defense.
The two other men fled in a red Honda coupe with temporary tags, Rodriguez said.
No one answered the Forest Village office phone Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the county police homicide department at 301-772-4925.
