Player of the Year

Chad Benford

Walkersville, Attack

The junior powered the Lions’ offense during the season with 72 goals and 61 assists for a total of 133 points, as they finished the year with a 13-2 record and an appearance in the Class 3A-2A West Region semifinal game.

Coach of the Year

Glenelg

The 1997 Glenelg alum directed his squad to the Class 2A-1A State Championship after coming out of the dangerous Howard County League—one of the more competitive league’s in the entire state during the regular season.

nJosh Braun, Glenelg, M⁄A

All-Howard County selection came up big in the clutch with two of his team’s six goals in the state title game. Finished the year with 33 goals and nine assists in 18 games.

nShaun Baldwin, Walkersville, A

Potent offensive weapon tallied 57 goals and handed out 11 assists for 68 points during the season for the Lions in his junior campaign.

nTyler Cockey, Century, A

Dangerous attackman for the Knights’ was named to the All-Carroll County first team.

nDan Colosimo, Urbana, G

Stingy netminder sported a save percentage of 63 percent for the 3A-2A West Region champion Hawks.

nChris Gotshall, Glenelg, A

A pivotal part of the Gladiators’ offense, the junior racked up 46 goals to go with 28 assists and 45 ground balls.

nJustin Jachowski, Frederick, M⁄A

Unselfish player for the Cadets tallied 22 goals and 31 assists for a total of 53 points overall.

nAdam Lambros, Liberty, D

Talented defender was recognized throughout Carroll County and the Monocacy Valley Athletic League’s Piedmont Conference, making first-team on both lists.

nNick Lawson, Glenelg, D

An intregal part of the Gladiators’ lock-down defensive unit. Helped put the squeeze on Pikesville’s offense in the championship game.

nBrendan Oster, Urbana, M⁄A

An anchor for the Hawks’ midfield fired in 32 goals and handed out 11 assists.

nRyan Pentz, Century M

All-Around athlete in football, basketball and lacrosse capped his senior year with first-team selections to the All-Carroll and All-Chesapeake Conference first teams.

nKevin Patton, Walkersville, A

Senior combined with teammate Benford to comprise one of the more effective scoring duos in the region. Contributed 44 goals and 43 assists this season.

nJohn Selfridge, Glenelg, G

First team All-Howard County Player was the lynchpin behind the Gladiators ultra-tight defensive unit during the postseason. Allowed just three goals in the championship game and stopped over 63 percent of shots taken this season.

nMatt Thomas, Urbana, M

Was a face-off beast during the season, and was a key in the Hawks win over Walkersville in the region semis.

nAndy Wilkinson, Frederick, A

Rung up 39 goals and 22 assists for the Cadets despite being a target for most opposing defensive units.

nT.J. Willoughby, Century, M

Also a standout quarterback in football, Willoughby also shines in lacrosse, netting first-team All-County honors.
