Eat pizza, help a charity
Wednesday, June 28, 2006
A new pizza restaurant in Friendship Heights plans to donate 100 percent of its sales to charity during its first week.
Starting today, Potomac Pizza, one of the neighborhood retail tenants opening as part of the Chevy Chase Center redevelopment project, will donate all of its sales to a different charity each day. Located at 19 Wisconsin Circle, the restaurant is situated between Clyde’s and the new Giant Food grocery store.
‘‘Often the smallest gestures, even from a mom-and-pop shop, can make a huge impact,” owner Adam Greenberg said in a written statement. ‘‘I recognize the importance of giving back to the community that has supported us over our 28-year history.”
Greenberg, owner and founder of the Potomac-based Restaurant Zone, Inc., runs Potomac Village Deli Catering and four Potomac Pizza restaurants in Friendship Heights, Potomac, Rockville and Gaithersburg. The charities to benefit include NIH Children’s Charities today, Make-A-Wish Foundation on Thursday, Komen National Race for the Cure on Friday, Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now on Saturday and MS on Sunday.
