Upper Marlboro man charged with murder after father dies following fight
Arrest stems from February altercation, heart failure
An Upper Marlboro man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the death of his father, who police say died in February of heart problems after a physical fight between the two.
Jonathan Alexander Battle, 21, of the 12800 block of Carousel Court is being charged with second-degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Anthony Donnell Battle, Prince George's County police spokesman Officer Evan Baxter said.
Police found Anthony Battle unconscious in the home on Carousel Court on Feb. 23, and he later died in a local hospital, Baxter said. The state medical examiner concluded on Tuesday that Anthony Battle died of cardiac arrhythmia associated with the fight, and police arrested his son that night.
Jonathan Battle is being held without bond at the Prince George's County jail. No attorney is listed for him in online court records, and the phone line at his house was disconnected Wednesday evening. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on July 22.
