Our annual guide to the countyWelcome to The Gazette’s annual guide to Frederick County. Need to know who your elected officials are? Wondering where to call if your recycling isn’t picked up? This guide is designed to help you find out about all the services and resources that we in Frederick County can take advantage of throughout the year. We’ve stuffed this guide with information on the county and each of the communities we cover. So if you live in Thurmont, Brunswick or Frederick, we have the lowdown on who’s who and what’s where. We’ve included lists of key institutions from schools to libraries to parks to places of worship. Because Frederick is growing so quickly (our population rose 30 percent between 1990 and 2000), we may have overlooked something you need. If you can’t find it or see an error, send us an e-mail at jallanach@gazette.net or mail the information to Community Guide, 2A North Market St., 4th Floor, Frederick, MD 21701. All of this gives us an opportunity to explain how The Gazette works. We print 5 newspapers each week in Frederick County and cover what’s happening in your county, your town, your city and sometimes your neighborhood. We tell you how your child’s sports team is doing, what the schools are planning, how business is faring, and let the world know about your celebrations — weddings, births, accomplishments. It’s easy to place a news item in The Gazette. Send it to us by mail, by e-mail, by telephone, by fax or just drop it by our office in downtown Frederick.
