Shark swimmers fall to CSR

The Fort Washington Sharks dropped their season opener in the Prince-Mont Swim League, 309.5-218.5, against Cheverly Swim and Racquet. The Sharks remained competitive despite having half as many swimmers as Cheverly.

Don Brazelton won three events in the 9-10 boys’ division and Arthur Walton claimed three victories in 13-14 boys for Fort Washington. Akeyla Holley and Erin Dullahan were double winners for the Sharks. Colleen McFadden and Prescott Stewart each won twice in the 15-18 events. Brian Wynn took first place in the 8-and-under breaststroke, and Dakota Hinely won the 13-14 boys’ backstroke.

Assault take league title

The D.C. Assault U-10 boys’ basketball team won the Force One League championship on Sunday with a 36-23 victory against the Waldorf Wizards. The Assault led by just two points at the end of the first quarter, but had opened up a 28-16 lead with 5 minutes, 28 seconds to go before halftime.

Aaron Thomas, Adam Hamilton, Develle Phillips, Donavin Smith, Enrique Foggs, Isaiah Martin, Jiar Watson, Julian Hurley, Justin Route, Michael Jackson and Stevon Douglass combined for 31 rebounds, three blocked shots, five steals and seven assists.

Football camps planned

The Clinton Boys and Girls Club will host a free, two-week football camp July 16-27 at Miller’s Field, 9110 Piscataway Road in Clinton. No registration required. Visit www.clintonjets.com.

The Fort Washington Boys and Girls Club will hold a youth football skills camp from 6 to 8 p.m. July 16-27 at Autumnwood Park. Clubs hold registration

The Clinton Boys and Girls Club seeks athletes ages 5 to 16 to participate in the 2007 fall season. Boys and girls living in the Clinton and Brandywine area can register for soccer, flag (ages 5 to 7) and tackle (ages 7 to 16) football and cheerleading. Coaches are needed for all sports. Register on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Equipment Shed, 9110 Piscataway Road in Clinton, or online at www.clintonjets.com.

The Fort Washington Area Recreation Council Boys and Girls Club is holding registration for tackle and flag football and cheerleading for boys and girls ages 5 to 16. Cheerleading will include a peewee team for ages 5 to 7. Practices begin July 17. Registration takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Potomac Landing Community Center at 12500 Fort Washington Road in Fort Washington. The registration deadline is Aug. 31. Volunteer coaches also are needed for all sports, including soccer, baseball and basketball. Cheer camp scheduled

The Allentown Arrows will host its first summer cheer camp from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (for ages 5 to 10) and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. (for ages 11 to 18) Saturday and Sunday at Forestville High School, 7001 Beltz Drive in Forestville. Flag players sought

Soccer camp planned

A soccer player development program will be held from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in June in Temple Hills.
