County reports
The following is a summary of incidents in the 1st District (Rockville) and 4th District (Wheaton-Glenmont) to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
1st District
Aggravated assault
-On May 28 between 9:34 and 10:04 p.m. in the 4700 block of Wyaconda Road in North Bethesda. A person saw a man enter a neighbor's vehicle, confronted him and called police. The assailant returned the neighbor's property, but then displayed a knife when the victim began to follow him. Officers found the assailant at his residence, where he violently resisted arrest. A 24-year-old from North Bethesda was arrested.
-On May 30 at 5:20 a.m. in the 11800 block of Goodloe Road in Wheaton. A woman was outside with her dog when a man came from behind and grabbed her hair. The victim resisted and the man stabbed the victim with a small knife. She was not seriously injured.
-On May 30 between 7 and 7:38 p.m. in the 11600 block of Joseph Mill Road in Wheaton. After an argument, a man beat a woman. The two are related. A 33-year-old from Silver Spring was arrested at the scene.
-On May 31 at 5:36 p.m. in the 500 block of Fallsgrove Drive in Rockville. Two people got into an argument and one hit the other in the face with a bottle. The two know each other. The assailant fled before officers arrived.
Strong-arm robbery/aggravated assault
-On May 28 at 5:15 p.m. behind Starbucks, 12091 Rockville Pike in Rockville. A man became engaged in a confrontation with an unknown man who beat the victim and took personal property before driving away in a blue 2002 Dodge Caravan with Maryland tags. The assailant is described as black, 43, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 245 pounds.
Burglary
-Between 9:30 p.m. May 27 and 7 a.m. May 28 at Church of the Nazarene, 4500 Muncaster Mill Road in Rockville. Forced entry; property taken.
-On May 27 between 6:25 and 7:20 a.m. at Cabin John Middle School, 10701 Gainsborough Road in Potomac. Forced entry; property taken from construction site.
Graffiti
-Between 10 a.m. May 27 and 9:20 a.m. May 28 at Veirs Mill Elementary School, 11711 Joseph Mill Road in Wheaton. Nicknames were written on a wall.
-Between 11:30 a.m. May 27 and 2 a.m. May 28 in the 11900 block of Selfridge Road in Aspen Hill. "HA" was written on a vehicle door.
Recovered stolen vehicle
-On May 26 at Frederick and Redland roads in Rockville. A black Dodge Stratus with Maryland tags was stolen from Frederick County on an unknown date.
Vehicle larceny
-Two vehicles in the 11800 block of Enid Drive and one in the unit block of Enid Court in Potomac, overnight between May 26 and 27. Vehicles were left unlocked in two of the incidents, unknown entry in third; property taken in one incident.
Commercial burglary
-Moyers Lawn Care, 401 Southlawn Lane in Rockville, between 5:30 p.m. May 23 and 5:25 a.m. May 24. Forced entry; property taken.
-Universal Lightning Protection, 535 Southlawn Lane in Rockville, between 12:30 p.m. May 30 and 11:30 a.m. May 31. Forced entry; property taken.
-PME Towing, 15816 Paramount Drive in Derwood, between May 31 and June 1. Forced entry; property taken. The suspect vehicle is described as a black 2008 BMW 28I, four-door, Maryland tags.
Residential burglary
-11700 block of Ashley Drive in North Bethesda, between 9:15 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. May 28. Forced entry; property taken.
-5800 block of Vandegrift Lane in Rockville, between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. May 27. No forced entry; property taken.
-900 block of Maple Avenue in Rockville, between May 24 and 31. No forced entry; property taken from two sheds.
-1700 block of Gruenther Avenue in Rockville, between 4:45 and 5:02 a.m. June 1. Attempted entry; nothing taken.
-300 block of Grandin Avenue in Rockville, at 6 p.m. May 30. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken. The burglar is described as a black male, 20-25, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 130-150 pounds, wearing a white tank top under a shirt and jeans, and carrying a black backpack.
-10400 block of Windsor View Drive in Potomac, between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. June 1. No forced entry; property taken.
4th District
Indecent exposure
-On May 30 at 11 p.m. in the 18200 block of Leman Lake Drive in Olney. A woman was on foot when a man approached her, pulled down his pants and exposed himself. The man fled down Spartan Road towards Old Baltimore Road. He is described as white, 17-22, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing a white polo shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
Armed street robbery
-On May 30 at 2:54 a.m. in the 13500 block of Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill. A man and a woman armed with guns approached a man and a woman and demanded their wallets. The woman complied, but the man refused. They ran to a dark-colored Toyota or Honda that contained a third unidentified person. The robbers were masked.
Sex assault
-On May 29 at 3:07 a.m. in the 4300 block of Independence Street in Rockville. Between acquaintances. A 41-year-old man from Rockville was arrested.
Vehicle theft
-13200 block of Brackley Road in Colesville, overnight between May 27 and May 28. A 2002 Jaguar was stolen.
Vehicle larceny
-15700 block of Pamela Drive, two vehicles left unlocked; 1400 block of Harding Lane, two vehicles left unlocked; 14600 block of Woonsockett Drive, window broken; 400 block of Casino Drive, locks punched, overnight between May 25 and 29; GPS units, iPod, CD player, laptop, coins, cash, cigarettes, tools taken.
-1400 block of Harding Lane and 5400 block of Thompson Road in Colesville, overnight between May 27 and 28. Vehicles left unlocked; loose change taken.
Commercial burglary
-Tires Express Plus, 15520 Georgia Ave. in Brookeville, overnight between May 29 and 30. Forced entry; property taken.
Residential burglary/vehicle theft
-1600 block of Colesberg Street in Silver Spring, overnight between May 25 and 26. No forced entry. A person stole keys to a vehicle and then stole the vehicle. The vehicle was located two blocks away on the same morning.
Residential burglary
-14800 block of Windmill Terrace in Colesville, between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. May 28. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
-17700 block of Chipping Court in Olney, between 6 and 7 p.m. May 30. No forced entry; property taken.
-3900 block of Weller Road in Wheaton, between 1:15 and 2:30 p.m. May 27. No forced entry; property taken.
