Montgomery County seeks election judges
The Montgomery County Board of Elections is seeking election judges to work the polls during the 2012 election, according to a news release.
Election judges must be registered voters of any party affiliation. However, the release states, there is a greater need for Republican and Spanish-speaking judges.
The primary election will be held April 3, 2012, and the general election will be Nov. 6, 2012.

MontgomeryWorks, Montgomery Community Media collaborate
MontgomeryWorks and Montgomery Community Media are partnering to offer one-minute employment tips on county cable channels, according to a news release.
The "Montgomery Jobs Tips" are airing on cable channels 19 and 21, and is sponsored by Holy Cross Hospital and Abt Associates.
MontgomeryWorks, which operates sites in Gaithersburg and Wheaton, serves more than 10,000 job seekers and employers annually.
Montgomery Community Media is an independent nonprofit media resource serving Montgomery County on two cable channels and online at www.mymcmedia.org, the news release states.
County libraries increase fees, fines
A number of new fees, fines and policies for Montgomery County Public Libraries will take effect Monday, according to a news release.
The changes are:
-Library card accounts of customers who owe $25 or more in fines will be blocked. This is an expansion of the current policy to include public Internet computers.
-Library card accounts must be clear of all fines and fees before the account can be renewed each year.
-Customers who do not pick up items placed on hold after 10 days will be assessed a fee of $1 per hold. Libraries Director Parker Hamilton said customers now can receive email reminders when they have holds ready for pickup and for other reasons.
