A handful of mature trees and a host of flowering plants and bushes add charm to this 1987 home in Gaithersburg’s Oakmont Manor. Blue paint with white trim also distinguishes the home on the outside.

Inside, hardwood floors run in the foyer and attached living and dining rooms to the left. A coat closet and a powder room are conveniently located in the entry hall. The powder room is interesting with its walls lined with computer printouts of nostalgia newsprint.

The living room has a floor-to-ceiling triple window looking out to the front yard. Hardwood molding is featured here and in the dining. The latter also has chair rail with wallpaper below, and a wall of bay windows.

Beyond, the kitchen has oak cabinets, laminate counters, vinyl floor and stainless steel appliances. A double closet with built-in shelving serves as the laundry center, though can also function as a pantry.

Glass doors open to the added sunroom with carpet, a lighted ceiling fan and three walls of windows, as well as a French door to the deck with built-in benches. The owners painted this sunroom a powder blue, and the ceiling was painted to look like a clouded sky.

To the kitchen’s right, the family room has a floor-to-ceiling, raised fireplace with a mantel; as well as crown and chair rail molding, carpeting and a lighted ceiling fan. A skylight brings in more daylight, while a nearby door accesses the two-car garage.

The upper level has an overlook to the family room below, and offers four bedrooms.

A hall bath with a window and a linen closet serves the smaller rooms.

The master bedroom has cathedral ceiling with a lighted fan, a triple front window and a walk-in closet. The private bath has vaulted ceiling and a skylight, and completes the bedroom level.

The finished basement has carpet and includes a rec room with a brick fireplace and double doors to a patio. A full bath, and an office or bedroom, and lots of storage areas are also featured. A second refrigerator down here conveys.

Other amenities include a hard-wired security system, newer roof and no homeowner association fees. The large deck in the rear is surrounded with towering trees, which provide a nice shade in the summer.
