Town's support for Purple Line is heartening
It was heartening to read that two of the four candidates for Chevy Chase town council do not support spending more of the town's funds to oppose the Purple Line, and that one candidate, David Eason, actively opposes using town funds to lobby to prevent the Purple Line from being built.
While it is understandable that town council members would put the interests of their town first, they are also citizens of Montgomery County and the state of Maryland, and I would like to see them look beyond their own backyards, and consider the positive impact that the Purple Line can have in reducing pollution and congestion, and easing the long, circuitous bus commutes that many low-wage workers take from their homes in Prince George's County to their jobs in wealthier areas such as Chevy Chase.
It's time for the Chevy Chase town council to show some perspective and leadership, and actively support the Purple Line.
