Prince George’s County Police have located a relative of an abandoned infant who was found by a county employee Thursday on Webster Street in Landover Hills and continue to investigate the incident to determine if charges will be filed.

Police on Friday were trying to determine who has custody of the boy, about 7 months old, said Cpl. Debbi Carlson, a spokeswoman for county police.

A county employee, Ralph Moultree, found the infant before 2 p.m. in the 6800 block of Webster Street as he was walking toward the Prince George’s County Fire Services Building, according to a news release from county police.

The boy was lying on the ground, wrapped in a blanket and fully clothed. He was admitted to a hospital and reported in good condition, according to the release.

Carlson said police investigators located a family member late Thursday, but said police are not identifying the family member’s relationship to the child. She also said the county Department of Social Services took custody of the boy Thursday night.

Anyone with additional information about this incident should call police at 301-772-4930 or Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).
