Frederick commissioners suspend incinerator proposal
Majority of board wants to explore other options
The Frederick Board of County Commissioners voted 4-1 today to put on hold the proposed incinerator while it explores other trash disposal options.
Those options include conventional and advanced disposal methods, such as using microbes to eat trash; expansion of the Reich's Ford Road landfill; or using another county's incinerator, or what some people call a "waste-to-energy facility" because it burns trash to create electricity.
Commissioner John "Lennie" Thompson Jr. (R) was the lone opposing vote.
