Landfill to recycle electronics Tuesday, April 25, 2006 E-Mail This Article | Print This Story by Sherry Greenfield Staff Writer Frederick County’s Department of Solid Waste Management announced Monday that the Reichs Ford Road landfill will now take electronic and computer items for recycling.
The county-owned landfill opened a new Citizen Convenience Center to give residents and businesses a location to recycle electronic waste.
Acceptable items include central processing units, circuit boards, computer chips⁄cards, cables, monitors, mice, keyboards, laptops, printers, scanners, power supplies, cell phones and telephones.
Computer Donation Management will recycle the computer equipment and telephones.
The fee of $2.95 for each 100 pounds ($59 per ton) of electronics will be charged.
Items may be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the landfill. For information, call 301-696-2960 or visit www.co.frederick.md.us⁄Recycling.
