Habitat for Humanity to open retail outlet

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County Inc. is opening a retail outlet, the Habitat ReStore, at 10 a.m. April 22, at 9110 Gaither Road in Gaithersburg.

The shop, which will sell donated building materials and home furnishings, is one of four ReStores in Maryland and 300 nationwide. The store will serve as a community recycling center for home improvement items – such as windows, doors, stoves and dressers, the organization said in a statement.

‘‘We are excited to see the dream of the Habitat ReStore become a reality here in Montgomery County...by selling donated building materials and household items, we will help the environment as we help build homes for local families,” Kevin White, ReStore manager, said in a prepared statement.

The county group is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and is directed by a volunteer board.
