Mary Lehman, long-time West Laurel resident and president of the West Laurel Civic Association, will be walking again in the Avon Breast Cancer two-day walk to raise money to help fight breast cancer. Mary is walking for her daughters, Allison, 9, and Caroline, 3, and nieces Maranda, 7, Darbie, 16, and Desirae, 18, ‘‘so that they never hear the words, ‘You have breast cancer.’” She also walks to honor ‘‘sisters Gloria, Jeanne, Terese and Monica and sisters-in-law Colleen, Artha, Denise, and Debbie, who is in remission but will have to take medication the rest of her life.” She is also walking to honor her Aunt Gloria, a breast cancer survivor now enjoying retirement in Arizona. Finally, Mary is walking in memory of her friend Dorothy, who died in 2005 after a 13-year battle with breast cancer. To support Mary and donate to this worthy cause, visit Mary’s personal page on Avon’s Web site at http:⁄⁄info.avonfoundation.org⁄site⁄TR?px=2229303&pg=personal&fr_id=1270 or mail a check to Mary Lehman at 16204 Julie Lane, Laurel, MD 20707.
