County police reports
The following is a summary of incidents in Bethesda to which Montgomery County police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
Theft
- Between 2 p.m. March 13 and 7:30 a.m., on March 15 at a construction site, 3505 Leland St., Chevy Chase, No forced entry, construction supplies taken.
Vandalism
- Overnight between March 11 and March 12 in the 9900 block of Broad Street and the 5800 block of Kingswood Road, both in Bethesda. Four vehicles had slashed tires.
Vehicle theft
- 4400 Montgomery Avenue in Bethesda, between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. March 9. Keys were taken from a gym locker at Bethesda Sport & Health and used to steal a 2005 Jaguar.
- Elm Street Garage in Bethesda, between March 10 and March 14. A 1996 Honda Accord with Maryland tags stolen.
Vehicle larceny
- 2700 block of Navarre Drive in Chevy Chase, overnight between March 10 and March 11. Two vehicles entered, one via an unlocked door and the other via a broken window. GPS, phone charger taken.
- 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, overnight between March 12 and March 13. Vehicle left unlocked, iPod, watch, CDs taken.
- 1700 block of East West Highway in Chevy Chase, at 5:20 p.m. March 13. Witness heard the sound of breaking glass and saw the suspect closing the door of a vehicle. Nothing reported taken.
- 4500 block of Harling Lane and 7900 block of Pearl Street in Bethesda. Multiple vehicles targeted. In some instances vehicles were unlocked, in others windows were smashed. GPS units, laptops, cash taken.
- Cobalt Road, Woodacres Drive, Ramsgate Road, and Welborn Drive in the Glen Echo /Woodacres Park neighborhood, overnight between March 10 and March 11. Electronics, cash taken from four vehicles.
- Sherrill Avenue and Wetherill Road in the Glen Echo /Woodacres Park neighborhood, between March 13 and March 15. Loose cash taken from one vehicle, gasoline siphoned from the other.
- YMCA, 9401 Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. March 9. The victim's keys were taken out of an unsecured locker and then used to access the victim's vehicle parked in the lot. Property taken.
- Milstead Drive, Lindale Drive, Oakmont Avenue and Beech Drive in the Oakmont neighborhood, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. March 10. Patrol responded to a call for two suspects entering vehicles. Four vehicles targeted. A lookout was placed. A 24-year-old male from Bethesda and a 27-year-old male from Olney, still in possession of stolen GPS units and iPods, were located and arrested.
- 8103 Hawthorne Road in Bethesda, at approximately 1:30 a.m. March 11. Police responded to a call for a suspect inside a vehicle. The 21-year-old male suspect, still in possession a stolen tire gauge and loose change, was located and arrested.
Commercial burglary
- Angeethi Restaurant, 7904 Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda, overnight between March 12 and March 13. No forced entry, property taken.
- Hollister store, Montgomery Mall, 7101 Democracy Blvd. in Bethesda, overnight between March 8 and March 9. No sign of forced entry, property taken.
Residential burglary
- 2800 block of Greenvale Street in Chevy Chase, between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. March 10. Attempted forced entry, no entry gained.
- 7500 block of Wyndale Road in Chevy Chase, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. March 11. No forced entry, property taken.
- 4500 block of West Virginia Avenue in Bethesda, between 6:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. March 8. No forced entry, property taken.
- 4700 block of River Road in Bethesda, at 5 a.m. March 14. The victim awoke to find the suspect in her bedroom. The victim called out and the suspect fled. No forced entry, nothing reported taken.
- 10300 block of Thornbush Lane in Bethesda, at 8:30 p.m. March 8. Forced entry, unknown if property taken.
