8 people indicted this month in 5 killings in county this year
All face first-degree murder charges
Eight people arrested on murder charges for homicides committed this year in Prince George's County have been indicted by county grand juries this month, according to prosecutors and Circuit Court case records.
The eight people indicted have been charged with first-degree murder in five of the county's 21 criminal homicides committed this year. A suspect was indicted in February for a sixth homicide, and the rest of the 21 criminal homicides remain unsolved, according to Prince George's County police.
Two additional slayings include a man shot Jan. 11 as he tried to break into a person's Lanham home and a man shot by police March 7 in Palmer Park after he threatened officers with a gun. Those two cases likely will be ruled to be justifiable shootings, police said.
The eight indicted on murder charges are:
Demarco Williams, 23; David Wright, 28; and Verlyncia Coleman, 21, all of Hyattsville, in the Jan. 1 slaying of Ansel Donovan Whitelocke, 58, in his Chillum apartment.
Vincent Eugene Miles, 29, of Chillum and Neil Elmore Lawrence, 31, of District Heights in the Jan. 5 Oxon Hill shooting of Terrance Calvin Hunter, 30, Fort Washington.
Oscar Rosales-Madrid, 16, of Langley Park in the Jan. 8 Langley Park stabbing of Alejandro Marcos Diaz Vasquez, 30, of Langley Park.
Eldridge Slaughter, 42, of Baltimore in the Feb. 13 slaying of Christopher Alan Trueheart, 44, at his Temple Hills home.
Donte D. Douglass, 18, of Capitol Heights in the Jan. 8 Forestville shooting of Corteza Warren Livingston, 21, at his home.
While detectives continue to investigate the other criminal homicides, acting Police Chief Mark A. Magaw said patrols of areas with high crime remain vigilant and have "significantly slowed" the rate of criminal activity. While 15 criminal homicides occurred in January, there were four in February and two so far in March.
