Now hiring: Verizon Wireless seeks 250 workers
Subscriber, revenue growth spurs need
Layoffs have been in the news much of the year, but some industries, such as wireless communications, are out beating the drum for workers.
Verizon Wireless in Hanover, seeking to hire 250 customer service representatives this year, is holding an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. April 3 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at its customer call center at 7401 Coca Cola Drive, near the intersection of Routes 100 and 295.
"In addition to continually investing in the industry's best wireless network, Verizon Wireless is recruiting the industry's best employees to support our customers," said Robin Linton, Verizon Wireless human resources manager, in a statement.
The company said strong demand for Verizon Wireless products and services continued last year as the company added 1.2 million net new customers in the fourth quarter and became the wireless industry's largest carrier with more than 80 million customers nationwide.
In Verizon's latest earnings report, the company said Verizon Wireless continued its "double-digit revenue growth" with total fourth quarter revenues of $12.8 billion, up 12.3 percent year-over-year, and full-year revenues of $49.3 billion, up 12.4 percent.
Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone.
