Enjoy a musical warm up this weekend in Frederick with Robbie Fulks, Jenny Scheinman
The sun is shining, the grass is not only visible but actually green, and everyone from the birds right on down to the internationally renowned recording artist has one cheerful tune or another in their heart. Those inclined can celebrate the dawn of spring with a variety of musical events this weekend in Frederick.
First, make a Friday outing to Brewer's Alley for what is being billed as the Frederick Film Festival's premiere event an evening of short films in anticipation of the festival-proper (kicking off on March 26), and accented by the quirky country stylings of Robbie Fulks. Fulks will be joined by jazz violinist-plus Jenny Scheinman, who has worked with the likes of Norah Jones and Aretha Franklin, among many prestigious others. Tickets are $35.
On Saturday, enjoy "An Irish Night," and celebrate St. Paddy's all over again at the St. Thomas More Academy in Buckeystown with performances by the Celtic band O'Malley and Mates, the Ring of Kerry Irish Dancers and Sligo Creek.
Finally, pay tribute to a 325 year legacy when organists, vocal soloists, hand bell choirs, violin and viola players and a flute ensemble unite to honor Johann Sebastian Bach with a musical extravaganza, Back-to-Back Bach," at Frederick Presbyterian Church. The event is free and open to the public.
