West Laurel hosts event honoring police, fire and rescue squads
The West Laurel Civic Association will host an open house from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today to recognize the emergency personnel who serve the community.
Elizabeth Evans, a member of the WLCA board, said the group decided to hold the event in order to give residents a chance to meet and thank the police officers, firefighters and paramedics in West Laurel. Evans said the group has invited members of the Prince George's, Montgomery and Laurel police departments, Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad.
"When West Laurel cries for help, these are the people that come," she said.
Evans emphasized that the event is not a meeting and attendees are welcome to come and go as they please during the two-hour period. A fire truck and ambulance will also be available for children and adults to check out and refreshments will be served.
For more information, contact Evans at 301-490-5679.
