County foreclosure rate declines 23.8 percent
Frederick County's home foreclosure rate fell 23.8 percent last month from January, according to new information from RealtyTrac of Irvine, Calif.
However, that was up 25.6 percent from February 2009. The county's rate of one foreclosure filing per 395 households was the sixth highest in the state.
Maryland's foreclosure rate rose 9.6 percent last month from January, with a rate of one filing per 407 households, while the U.S. rate of one per 418 households dipped 2.3 percent from January.
Centauri Labs to test at New Jersey plants
Centauri Labs of Frederick recently received a $270,000 contract from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to conduct radiochemical analysis in and around the state's nuclear power plants, according to a company statement.
Centauri will provide analysis to detect radiation in milk, air particulates, charcoal cartridges, soil, fish, vegetation and aquatic sediment.
BioElectronics upgrades ActiPatch product line
BioElectronics of Frederick recently announced upgrades to its ActiPatch Therapy product line.
Beginning with the next manufacturing run, all of the electronic healing patches will have an elastic strap so users can place the product directly on the pain or inflammation site.
Tech council to hold Fort Detrick event
The Tech Council of Maryland is scheduled to host a seminar, "Selling to Fort Detrick," from 8 a.m. to noon March 31 at Mount St. Mary's University on Spectrum Drive in Frederick.
The seminar will offer potential contractors information on how to work with military and research organizations at the fort.
