Field Athlete of the Year
Evann Slaughter, Oxon Hill: Slaughter captured the state Class 4A high jump championship and won the high jump and triple jump titles at the county championships while finishing second in the high jump at the 4A South Region championships.

Coach of the Year
Carl Rose, Charles H. Flowers: Rose guided a solid group of athletes to the Springdale school's first state championship in girls' track. But with only one state title winner, coaching played a key role in the Jaguars' success. Flowers dethroned county track juggernaut Eleanor Roosevelt, which had won nine consecutive state indoor titles.

First Team
Lorraine Graham, Charles H. Flowers: Graham earned a triple crown, taking the county, region and state titles in the 55 hurdles without a sweat. The senior's county championship-winning time of 8.08 is the eighth-fastest in the nation according to Dyestat.com. Graham also won the 4A East Region high jump title and her county championship-winning long jump of 19-1 1/2 is the seventh-longest in the nation according to Dyestat.

Ekundayo Sogbesan, Forestville: The senior is the only county athlete — girl or boy — to win three individual state championships with her triumphs in the 300, 500 and 800 at the state Class 1A meet. Sogbesan also won 1A South Region titles in the 300, 500 and 800.

Deseree' King, Oxon Hill: King was a triple crown winner in the 500 and won state and county championships in the 800. Her state-winning 500 time of 1:14.89 is fifth-fastest in the nation.

Vernetta Biggs, Friendly: Biggs captured the state Class 3A 55 hurdles championship after finishing second at the 3A West meet and third at the county championships. Biggs also took fourth in the 55 dash in the county and state meets.

Delainey Price, Frederick Douglass: Price won the state Class 3A 500 title and took third in the 500 and 300 at the 2A West Region meet. Price edged out Central junior Amber Owens for the state title.

Amirah Johnson, Eleanor Roosevelt: The junior took second in the 1,600 and 800 at the 4A state meet. Johnson won the 4A East 800 and 1,600 titles along with a county championship in the 1,600.

Gloria Roberts, Frederick Douglass: Roberts continues to be one of the best distance runners in the county, winning the state Class 2A championship in the 800. She also finished second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200 in the state meet and won the county 3,200 title.

Adenike Pedro, Elizabeth Seton: Pedro's leap of 18-11 1/4 in the long jump at the Montgomery Invitational is the 13th-best in the nation this season, according to Dyestat. Her time of 7.14 in the 55 at the Montgomery Invitational is the second-fastest mark in the county this season.

Brelyn Finley, Charles H. Flowers: Finley has been a point generator her entire career in the shot put. She took second at the state Class 4A championships, first in the 4A East Region and first at the county championships.

Afia Charles, Eleanor Roosevelt: Charles won the county championship in the 300, finished second in the 500 at the 4A East Region, and her 500 time of 1:15.74 at the Montgomery Invitational is the ninth-fastest in the nation this year. Her best 300 time of 39.79 is the 14th-best mark in the nation.

Corryn Hurrington, Charles H. Flowers: A vital cog on the Jaguars state championship, Hurrington finished third in the 300 and 500 at the Class 4A state championship while taking second in the 300 and third in the 500 at the 4A East Region meet.

Ambrosia Iwugo, Elizabeth Seton: Iwugo's 200 time of 25.08 at the University of Kentucky Invitational is the second-best mark in the state this season, according to Dyestat. Iwugo's 300 time of 40.31 at the Private School Invitational is the fourth-fastest in the state this season. Iwugo's 500 time of 1:16.94 at the Montgomery Invite is 13th-fastest in the nation.

Charlise Morgan, Largo: Morgan won the 3A West Region title, while missing a state championship by just two inches. She was second at the county meet and her throw of 39-9 at the regional is the second-best mark in the state this season.

Latrese Barker, Friendly: The senior won the 3A West region 55 title to go along with a third-place finish at the 3A state championships. Barker finished third in the 55 at the county championships while finishing third in the 300 at the 3A West meet.
