The Tuesday Conversation: International Photography Competition
"Untitled No. 1" by Anita Licis-Ribak of Amherst, Mass.
"Grass and Pond, Isle of Skye, Scotland" by Allen Russ of Silver Spring.
CF: That is just beautiful. I mean it's a very lovely, interesting landscape. He's obviously manipulated it, but I don't think about that. It's all about how successful the image is at the end. It's hard to get that color in nature. I like all of his work. That's the thing when you find a photographer you really like, it's easy to pick all of their work. But then there's a photographer who submitted 14 images which all were rubbish, so I didn't pick any of them.
CF: You look at that and it has impact. Then I think it's a really unusual way of shooting a close-up of a flower. Because you see a lot of that all the time. I just thought he had done it in a unique way. It's got everything. It's got good composition and it's visually interesting.
"Exploding Rust Spot" by Michael Wilson of Hainesville, Ill.
