Police identify victim in Friday shooting in Edmonston
Incident followed altercation inside Surf Club Live
Police have identified the man who was fatally shot near an Edmonston night club early Friday morning.
Edmonston police responded to reports of gunfire outside of Surf Club Live on Kenilworth Avenue at about 1 a.m. and found Phillip Watson, 30, of Washington, D.C., suffering from a gunshot wound, said Edmonston Police Chief Steven Walker.
Watson was transported to the Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, where he died of his injuries, Walker said. Prince George's County homicide detectives are investigating the case.
Walker said there had been a large fight inside the club prior to the shooting, but no information about potential suspects was available Monday.
