Women's Business Network to host breakfast seminar
The Women's Business Network of Frederick will host a networking breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. March 13 at Dutch's Daughter Restaurant, 581 Himes Ave., Frederick.
Suzanne Beal, Frederick Community College vice president for learning, will discuss "Old Scripts and New Options for Working Women" to mark Women's History Month.

Widearea Systems acquires NYTOR Technologies
Privately held Widearea Systems of Frederick recently acquired NYTOR Technologies of Chantilly, Va. Terms were not disclosed.
In a statement, Widearea CEO Choon Shim said NYTOR "fit our vision of providing comprehensive solutions of server virtualization and thin clients without compromising security to government agencies and the healthcare industry."
NYTOR Technologies was established as a division of Arrowhead Global Solutions in 2003 by Mary Ann Elliott, who will join Widearea's board.
Plamondon Enterprises hires director of procurement
Plamondon Enterprises of Frederick, which owns 18 Roy Rogers restaurants, named Jeff Mulliken director of procurement.
Mulliken has held various management positions at Marriott International and Hyatt Hotels. He has worked as an independent consultant for the past several years.
Tech company launches Web site for candidates
Aiming to provide turnkey Web sites to political candidates, Uppdev, a Frederick startup, has launched Electobot.
The site, www.electobot.com, offers politicians a $50-per-month campaign Web site.
"We like to describe it as Barackobama.com for local candidates,'" said founder Chris Charuhas in an e-mail.
It's Uppdev's first product. Charuhas founded the company with Robert Whetsel.
