Police arrest man they say attempted to rape his roommate
Forest Glen man, 35, found hiding in tree along Spencer Road, police said
Montgomery County Police said they arrested a Forest Glen man Monday night in connection with the attempted rape of his roommate.
Around 8 p.m. Monday, police responded to a report of attempted rape in the Paddington Square apartments in the 8800 block of Lanier Drive in the Forest Glen neighborhood of Silver Spring. A few hours later, they found Luis A. Flores, 35, hiding in a tree, according to a police news release.
Flores allegedly entered the bedroom of his 33-year-old female roommate, forced the victim onto her bed and threatened her with a knife, the release said. As he was attempting to remove her clothes, he heard a third roommate entering the apartment, the release said. Flores fled out of the first-floor window before the other roommate reached the victim's bedroom, said Officer Melanie Brenner, a police spokeswoman.
"He just threatened her," Brenner said. "We feel it was an interruption."
Police found Flores hiding in a tree along nearby Spencer Road, Brenner said. According to charging documents, Flores admitted to police that he committed the assault. He has been charged with attempted rape and first-degree assault and is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center without bond.
No attorney information for Flores was immediately available.
