Fort Washington: Luxury home sits on banks of Potomac River
Fort Washington house includes sunroom, dock
If you're looking for an elegant home on the waterfront, take a look in Fort Washington. A winding walkway leads up to this brick home, with a large terrace on the front.
The front door of the home opens into a striking two-story foyer, with curved walls surrounding the space and an intricate light fixture hanging down from above. There is hardwood flooring throughout the first level.
To the right of the entrance is the dining room, with an elaborate crystal chandelier in the center. To the left of the main foyer is the living room, with a fireplace at the far end. Both of these rooms have French doors, which open out onto the front terrace.
The kitchen has been entirely redone with granite countertops and hardwood cabinets with lighting underneath. The appliances are all stainless steel with a faux wood covering on the front of the dishwasher and refrigerator to match the cabinets.
Beyond the sunroom is the laundry with updated appliances. There is a half bath to one side as well as an additional room which could serve as an office, bedroom or playroom. On the other side of the kitchen is a large family room with a brick fireplace. There is an exit here to a small back patio with an overhead fan to keep the air moving on a warm summer's day.
Next to the living room is the first floor master bedroom with a large walk-in closet and a private bathroom. The bathroom itself is very impressive, with ceramic tile designs on the floor and wall, a stained glass window to the side and an intricate light fixture with a nature motif.
Back in the foyer, the stairs to the second floor follow the curved line of the wall as they lead up into the second floor as does the hallway above. At the end of the hall is a full bathroom, which uses the curve of the wall to have two pedestal sinks on slightly different angles from one another.
There are four bedrooms on the second floor. The first bedroom is very large, with a double-sized closet. The second is smaller, but has access to a rooftop patio above the breakfast room. The third is between the first two in size, but has a closet spanning the entirety of one wall.
The walk-in shower is fitted with a seat and the diamond tile pattern matches the pattern on the window. The sink is granite, which also surrounds the room's whirlpool tub. This bathroom, like the one below, has heated floors.
The home also has a finished basement. The spacious recreation room at the foot of the stairs has hardwood floors and a brick fireplace dominating the far wall. To the side is a wet bar, curved like the foyer above. It has a dishwasher and fridge installed as well and granite tile on top.
There is a half bathroom in the basement, which features a faucet designed to look like an old water pump. Additionally, there is another room in the basement, which could be used as an office or exercise room, as well as the large utility room.
The home is wired with an alarm system and even has its own generator. The backyard also features a private dock for convenience on the Potomac.
