Sportsplex takes second
In Level 4 competition, Madalyn Oliver took second place all-around in Group A. Rachel Chase was second all-around in Group B. Jordan Bagwell won the all-around in Group C. Leah Sanford was third in Group D. Other Level 4 gymnasts competing were Kendal Drewery, DaVionne Ferdinand, Jasmine Hall and Nia Starr.
In Level 5, Morganne Oliver was third in the all-around in Group A. Kamla Knight finished third all-around in Group B. Simone Murphy won the all-around title in Group C, while teammate Marie Ann Louis-Charles finished third. Other Level 5 gymnasts competing were Greer Baker, Ashley Belle, Lena Morant and Desiree Proffitt.
In Level 6 competition, Audrey Barber took third in the all-around in Group A. Lauren Roach won the all-around, followed by teammate Maya Miller in second place in Group B. Micaela Miles and Kennedy Jones took second and third, respectively, in the all-around in Group C. Christina Calica and Chandler Jackson finished second and third all-around in Group D. Jessica Lincoln finished third in the all-around in Group E. Other Level 6 gymnasts competing were Jerrese Adams, Brianna Downs, Lena Gillis, Annie Leveling, Jasmyn Parham, Dasia Whigham and Jasmine Williams.
In Level 7 competition, Nia Baker was second all-around in Group B, while Khyla Anderson took second all-around in Group D. Other gymnasts competing at Level 7 were Gerica Coronejo and Alexandra Grimes.
In Level 8 competition, Chelsea Knight-Taliaferro won the all-around in Group A, and Cristal Gomez took second place all-around in Group B.
Sportsplex teamson a roll
Sportsplex Gymnastics Girls Teams Levels 4, 5 and 6 competed two weekends ago at the Valentine Invitational in Baltimore. The Level 5 and 6 teams took first place, while the Level 4 team took second.
For the Level 5 team, Kamla Knight, Simone Murphy and Morganne Oliver took first place all-around in their specific age groups. Lena Morant placed second all-around, while Desiree Proffit took third in the all-around. Greer Baker, Ashley Belle, Marianne Louis-Charles also competed.
In Level 6, Brianna Downs, Chandler Jackson and Lauren Roach took first-place all-around honors in their respective age groups, while Audrey Barber, Jerrese Adams and Jessica Lincoln each too second in the all-around in their age groups. Christina Calica and Annie Leveling took third in all-around. Lena Gillis, Kennedy Jones, Micaela Miles, Maya Miller, Jasmyn Parham, Dasia Whigham and Jasmine Williams also participated for the Level 6 teams.
The Level 4 team got first-place all-around performances from Jasmine Hall and Jordan Bagwell. Raquel Chase was second in the all-around. Kendal Drewery, Davionne Ferdinand, Madalyn Oliver and Leah Sanford also competed.
The Sportsplex boys’ team had a successful showing in the Temple University Boys’ Invitational two weekends ago in Philadelphia.
Courtland Carr earned medals on the floor and parallel bars for the Level 4 team. Brandon Downs won a medal on the vault. Christian Gray medaled on the floor and pommel horse. Christian Manning was a medalist on vault, parallel bars and in the all-around competition. Jesse Parham medaled on the floor, rings, vault and in the all-around.
Level 5 gymnast Noah Lincoln medaled on the floor, rings and high bar. Miles Walker was a medalist on the rings and parallel bars.
In Level 6, Obot Ekpo was a medalist on the floor, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars and in the all-around. Ethan Leveling medaled on the floor, pommel horse, vault, high bars and in the all-around.
