Man shot in the neck in carjacking
Victim, grazed by bullet, expected to recover
The victim of a carjacking early Tuesday in Suitland is expected to recover from injuries sustained when bullet grazed his neck, police said Tuesday.
Prince George's County police responded at approximately 3:30 a.m. to the 4700 block of Suitland Road for report that a man had been carjacked. Police are still looking for the stolen vehicle, a 1993 black, two-door Lincoln Mark VIII with the Maryland license plate 7FVB59.
The driver of the car was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck and was taken to a local hospital, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a police spokesman.
The victim, who is expected to make a full recovery, was the only occupant of the car at the time of the carjacking.
Wednesday morning, police did not have any suspect descriptions or information on the circumstances of how the carjacking occurred. No additional information was available about the victim.
Just a block away from where the carjacking took place, Samuel Kelly Garvin, 26, of Washington, D.C., was fatally shot Feb. 17 in broad daylight in a shopping center in the 4600 block of Suitland Road. Police are still looking for suspects in that case.
