Damascus resident Gerri Smith, left, and Germantown resident Donate von Bredow-Gardner, who are the duo At This Point, won ‘‘Artist of the Year” at the first annual ‘‘Kenny Awards” at Borders Books and Music in Germantown on Saturday.
After a year of live music, Borders Books and Music in Germantown was the site of the first ‘‘Kennys Award Show” on Saturday.

The tongue-in-cheek awards were the brainchild of Germantown singer-songwriter Ken Salaets, who hosts the bimonthly ‘‘Germantown Live” and ‘‘Ken Salaets & Friends” music shows in the store’s café.

‘‘It was a great show, with amazing talent, quality entertainment and a generous audience,” Salaets said Monday. ‘‘I believe a good time was had by all.”

Awards were given in more than 35 categories, including a few unusual awards, such as Sharp Dressed Lady, Gadget Man and Best Butts-In-Seats Rating.

Here are the top awards: Artist of the Year: upcounty group At This Point, Donate Bredow Gardner, of Germantown and Gerri Smith of Damascus.

Song of the Year: ‘‘The Process” by Zachary J. Lasko of Rockville and the Zachary J. Band, which draws members from Germantown, Rockville and the Olney area. People’s Choice Artist: Damascus resident Karen Scuderi. People’s Choice Song: ‘‘Never Loved Anyone” by Tom Karpf of Silver Spring and the Dutch Cousins, which has members from the upcounty area.
