The Rockville man who police say fatally shot a well-known athletic trainer last Friday night faces a first-degree murder charge.

Michael Wayne Adams, 44, was arrested in Fairfax, Va., after turning himself in a little more than an hour after the incident. Police issued a warrant on the murder charge to Adams when he was brought back to Montgomery County Feb. 14.

Police found the body of Jason David Hadeed, 33, lying outside in the 200 block of King Farm Boulevard in Rockville’s King Farm community after receiving a report of a shooting at 10:15 p.m. Feb. 8.

Hadeed, of the 1000 block of Reserve Champion Drive in Rockville, was taken to an area hospital, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds, county police reported.

Police said Adams and Hadeed knew each other, but a motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Adams waived his right to an extradition hearing, Montgomery County Police reported Monday afternoon.

Hadeed founded Elite Athletic Training Systems in 1995, which provides strength and conditioning fitness for high school and college athletes in the county.
