Police investigating homicide near Temple Hills nightclub
District Heights man found dead on Allentown Way
Police are continuing to investigate whether a District Heights man killed Jan. 31 on Allentown Way was visiting a popular Temple Hills nightclub near where his body was found, according to Prince George's police.
After receiving a report of shots fired, officers found Darryl Maurice Robinson, 28, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the 5800 block of Allentown Way. Police are investigating whether Robinson may have been visiting Tradewinds, a popular restaurant and nightclub, at 5859 Allentown Way, earlier in the evening on Jan. 30, police spokesman Cpl. Mike Rodriguez said last week.
Police spokesman Larry Johnson said Wednesday police did not have any new information in the case.
Robinson, who lived in the 2200 block of Ramblewood Drive, was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after the 3 a.m. incident.
Johnson said he was not sure how many times, or where Robinson was shot.
Calls to Tradewinds requesting comment were not returned.
The Jan. 31 incident is the not first homicide to take place near Tradewinds. In March of 2007, David Sloley, 24, of Seat Pleasant was shot and killed near the club and another man was injured.
Just days after Sloley's death, County Executive Jack B. Johnson temporarily shut down eight county night clubs, which he said were plagued by a history of violent crimes.
The closures came after an 11-day homicide spree in which 11 people died near area nightclubs and bars.
However, the majority of these clubs re-opened a week later promising to address night club security.
No witnesses have come forward to report seeing or hearing anything, and a weapon was not recovered from the scene, Johnson said.
