The following is a summary of incidents in the upcounty to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.

5th District

Assault/attempted strong-arm robbery

-On Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the 19600 block of Gunners Branch Road in Germantown. A man was walking home when two men approached him from behind. One demanded his wallet and began to punch him. Someone witnessing the attack yelled at the would-be robbers and they fled without property. One robber is described as black, 17-20 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. The second robber is described as black, 17-20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

-On Jan. 24 at 10:21 p.m. in the 20000 block of Frederick Road in Germantown. A man was drinking with two others early in the evening. They returned to his apartment later, hit him with a bottle, rifled through his pockets and fled without any property.

Attempted armed commercial robbery

-On Jan. 24 at 10:43 a.m. at the KFC, 19650 Gunners Branch Road in Germantown. A man entered the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager. He then demanded money and displayed a gun, but when he realized the victim did not have access to money, he fled without property. The robber is described as black, 18-25 years old, 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 6 inches tall, weighing180-220 pounds, wearing a ski mask and gloves and carrying a gun.

Commercial burglary

-Exxon, 21000 Frederick Road in Germantown, between 1:39 and 1:40 a.m. Jan. 23. Forced entry; property taken.

-Construction sites in the 23100 block of Frederick Road, 22100 block of Havenworth Lane, and 10100 block of Sycamore Hollow Road in the Clarksburg, between Jan. 18 and 26. In all incidents, unknown entry; property taken. In two of the incidents copper was targeted.

Vehicle larceny

-20000 block of Club Hill Drive in Germantown, at 1:41 p.m. Jan. 21. No forced entry; property taken. A 16-year-old male from Germantown was arrested.

Residential burglary

-20000 block of Sweetgum Circle in Germantown, between 1 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21. Unknown entry; property taken.

-Unit block of Locbury Court in Germantown, between 6 p.m. Jan. 22 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 25. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

-14000 block of Bromfield Road in Germantown, between 7 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Jan. 19. No forced entry; property taken. The burglar is described as a black man, 43-44 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 190-200 pounds.

-13100 block of Dairymaid Drive in Germantown, between 2 p.m. Jan. 19 and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

-18000 block of Cottage Garden Drive in Germantown, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Jan. 21. No forced entry; property taken.

-18600 block of Sage Way in Germantown, at 9:40 p.m. Jan. 22. Attempted forced entry; none gained. The burglar's vehicle is described as a Ford or Chevy white work truck.

-18000 block of Kitchen House Court in Germantown, between 11:18 and 11:22 p.m. Jan. 24. Forced entry; property, cash taken.
