Woodfield talent will shine
The Woodfield Elementary School Talent Show has been rescheduled to Saturday.
The show will highlight student singing, dancing and other talents. It will start at 7 p.m. in the Clarksburg High School auditorium, 22500 Wims Road.
Donations to help pay for the show will be collected at the door. The fifth grade class will sell refreshments.
Clearspring collecting pennies
Students at Clearspring Elementary School in Damascus are collecting spare change and other donations to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Pennies for Patients" program, in which students across the country are raising funds for cancer research and patient services.
Clearspring students collected more than $2,000 last year.
Nickels, dimes, quarters, dollars and checks will also be accepted. Checks should be made payable to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Used car sale coming to DHS
The Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation Inc. will hold a used car sale from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 20 at Damascus High School, 25921 Ridge Road.
All used vehicles are Maryland inspected and most come with a 30-day, 1,000-miles warranty. Vehicle sale prices start at $1,600. A $100 deposit (check or cash) is required for each vehicle purchased: tax, tags and fees are in addition to the price of the vehicle.
A lottery for the used cars will begin at 11 a.m. All proceeds from the sale are returned to the student training program.

Clarksburg drama department seeks 1980s clothing
The Clarksburg High School drama department will present "The Wedding Singer" in April, and residents are asked to donate old dresses and formalwear they might not want any longer.
The drama department is looking for anything from the [19]80s," as well as bridesmaid, homecoming, prom or wedding dresses that you might have," faculty advisor Michelle Meyer said.
The department is also looking for old mattresses for the production.
Items will not be returned, Meyer said.

Tickets on sale for DHS athletic booster dinner dance
Tickets are on sale for the Swarmin' Soiree, a dinner dance to raise money for the Damascus High School Athletic Booster Club.
The event will be held Feb. 27 at Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville. In addition to dancing, it will feature a cash bar and silent auction.

College Fair set for Feb. 17
The Historically Black Colleges and Universities College Fair will be held 6-8 p.m. Feb. 17 at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville.
Montgomery County students in grades 912 and their parents are invited to meet with representatives from more than 50 historically black colleges and universities. Qualified seniors will be able to receive on-the-spot admission decisions, as well as scholarship offers, from some of the colleges and universities in attendance.
The fair is sponsored by the Washington Inter-Alumni Council, in conjunction with the United Negro College Fund, and co-sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County Chapter of the NAACP.
Richard Montgomery High School is located at Richard Montgomery Drive in Rockville.
Free financial aid workshop
for students, parents
The Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus will hold College Goal Sunday 2010 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
The free one-day program will offer assistance to parents and students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the form required by colleges, universities and private career schools to qualify for federal grants and loans, as well as many state and private scholarships.
Spanish interpreters will be available.
The event will be held in the Charlene R. Nunley Student Services Center on the school's campus at 7600 Takoma Ave. in Takoma Park. The snow date is Feb. 21.
At least one week before the event, parents and students should register for a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/pinindex.jsp. Parents and students should bring the PIN numbers to the event, along with completed 2008 or 2009 IRS 1040 tax forms, a W-2 form and other 2009 income and benefits information.
