Fort Washington woman killed in one-car crash
Police believe male driver suffered medical emergency before crashing into tree
A 79-year-old unidentified Fort Washington woman was killed Thursday evening when the car she was riding in crashed into a tree in Clinton.
Just after 6 p.m., Prince George's County police believe the driver, George Hickey Jr., 78, of Fort Washington, suffered a medical emergency while driving north on Temple Hill Road, near the intersection with Kirby Road, said police department spokeswoman Cpl. Erica Johnson.
Hickey lost control of the vehicle and hit a nearby tree, Johnson said.
Both Hickey and the female passenger were taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Hickey was injured in the crash, but Johnson said police had not yet released the extent of his injuries or nature of the medical emergency that caused the accident.
Police had not released any further information, including the woman's name, by deadline.
