The Gazette must have been salivating after reading Renee Myers' letter ("Don't blame today's administration for this mess," Jan. 28) in response to Blaine Young's column the prior week.

Ms. Myers is a bit short on the facts.

You might want to educate yourself on how much our President Obama has contributed to the deficit compared to President Bush. You might want to research who got the sweet deals in the committees of Housing, Banks and Urban Affairs. Does Sen. Christopher Dodd ring a bell?

The last administration kept us safe for eight years. If the Patriot Act and Guantanamo Bay keep us safe, please give me more of it. By the way, it's estimated that 1 in 5 detainees goes back to a life of terrorism. Bet you did not hear that on CNN or MSNBC.

I do not blame the Obama administration for our current problems. I blame the uneducated voters for this mess. I also feel bad for the debt that my children will be paying long after I am gone. I believe in term limits and starting from scratch with both parties.

Luckily, I have the opportunity to teach my children the facts. That is, of course, unless the current administration assigns a history book czar and makes socialism a mandatory course in elementary schools. Of course, that would never happen. Hmmmm.
