Hood College to host Baroque concert
An all-Baroque concert featuring music for cello and harpsichord will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, in Brodbeck Music Hall at Hood College, 401 Rosemont Ave., Frederick.
Denise S. Nathanson, cellist, and Wayne L. Wold, harpsichordist, will perform works by Bach, Handel and Marais. The concert is free and open to the public and tickets are not required. Brodbeck Music Hall is not handicapped accessible.
Nathanson is a former instructor of cello at Hood College. While at Hood she performed in numerous chamber concerts on and off campus, including a 1999 performance at Lincoln Center in New York. She has served as principal cellist with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and Summer Opera Theatre Company, as associate principal cellist of the Annapolis and Roanoke Symphony Orchestras and as a member of the Alexandria and Fairfax Orchestras.
Wold is associate professor of music and college organist at Hood, where he has taught for 20 years. He offers courses in music theory and music appreciation, and gives private lessons in composition, organ and harpsichord. He is also active as a church musician, performer, lecturer, clinician, composer and author.
