Frederick County Bank posts earnings increase
Frederick County Bancorp, parent of Frederick County Bank, reported that its profit last year grew to $1.05 million from $1.04 million in 2008.
Its fourth-quarter profit rose to $505,000 from $154,000 in the fourth quarter of 2008.
BioElectronics to enter Japanese market
BioElectronics of Frederick has signed a contract with YesTDC Holdings to market its electronic healing patches in the Japanese market.
Shipments are expected to begin this winter, the company said in a statement.
"The initial order being placed via our Japanese distributor is far and away our single biggest order we have ever received and well into six figures," said Arnon Horev, BioElectronics' vice president of marketing, in the statement.
Women's business group to discuss local economy
The Women's Business Network of Frederick will hold a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Dutch's Daughter, 581 Himes Ave., Frederick.
The lunch will include a discussion about local business trends and resources for small businesses, with a talk by Laurie Boyer, executive director of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development.

Incubator workshop is on business ownership
The Frederick Innovative Technology Center Inc. and Score Frederick will host a workshop, "The Complete Cycle of Business Ownership," from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Frederick Community College Conference Center, 7932 Opossumtown Pike.
