Investigation ongoing nearly a month after woman found dead on Indian Head Highway
A woman remains unidentified nearly a month after she was killed in a hit-and-run crash on a Fort Washington highway.
On Monday, Prince George's County police released several sketches of the woman, who was found dead at around 7:50 a.m. Jan. 3 after a hit-and-run crash on Indian Head Highway/Route 210.
She is described as black, approximately 50 years old, around 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 pounds. She was found dead in a grassy area along the shoulder of Indian Head Highway near Old Fort Road, wearing a light blue jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.
The preliminary investigation revealed she was walking along the southbound shoulder of the highway when she was struck by a vehicle.
Police identified the driver in the crash Jan. 13 but have not released her name because no charges have been filed against her, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department.
He said police have not heard from or found any family members, friends or community members who can help them identify the victim.
The police department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash and can be reached at 301-731-4422.
