Police: 13-year-old girl sexually assaulted at Bowie birthday party
Gaithersburg man charged after being restrained by alleged victim's family
A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the early morning hours of Jan. 24 while attending a birthday party at a Bowie home, according to Prince George's County Police.
Police have charged Lucas Carvajal-Castiblanco, 19, of Gaithersburg, with second-degree rape, two counts of unlawfully committing a sexual offense in the second degree, unlawfully committing a sexual offense in the fourth-degree and second degree assault, according to charging documents.
Attorney information for Carvajal-Castiblanco was not immediately available. A phone call to the residence listed as his home address in court documents was not answered.
The girl was visiting a house on Kincaid Lane with her parents for a 17-year-old's birthday party, according to charging documents. Carvajal-Castiblanco is a friend of the disc jockey hired for the event, the charging documents describe.
The girl became tired and went to lie down in a second-floor bedroom. Carvajal-Castiblanco entered the room, locked the door and turned off the lights; he overpowered the girl and sexually assaulted her, according to the charging documents.
When the owner of the house and the victim's mother began knocking on the door, Carvajal-Castiblanco stopped the assault, dressed and jumped out a window, according to charging documents. The girl opened the door and told the adults what happened.
Carvajal-Castiblanco ran around the house and entered the front door as if nothing had occurred, not noticing that his white T-shirt and jeans were covered in blood, the documents state.
The Bowie Police Department report adds that Carvajal-Castiblanco was restrained by family members until they arrived at 4:45 a.m. The investigation was transferred to the Prince George's Police Department, which is investigating the crime due to its severity.
The victim was taken to Prince George's Hospital to receive a sexual assault exam while Carvajal-Castiblanco was transported to the Bowie Police Department, according to county police.
Carvajal-Castiblanco's hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22 at Prince George's County District Court in Upper Marlboro.
