Robert and Kathy Walter of Walkersville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Ann Walter to Philip Wesley Atwell, son of Rodney and Judi Atwell, of Frederick.

Emily graduated with honors in 2009 from the nursing program at Frederick Community College. She currently holds an associate degree in nursing and is employed as a registered nurse at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville.

Philip graduated with honors in 2000 from McDaniel College in Westminster. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and English literature and is currently employed as a title abstractor with Andrew R. Silver and Associates, in Rockville.

The couple will be married Oct. 23, 2010, at Saint John's Catholic Church in Frederick.
