Dead man found in Malcolm King Park in Gaithersburg
Police say the man was stabbed; he has not been identified
The body of a man with multiple stab wounds was found this morning at the edge of a stream in Malcolm King Park on School Drive in Gaithersburg.
The victim has not been identified, said Lucille Baur, a spokeswoman for Montgomery County Police.
A resident collecting trash in the Shady Grove Village neighborhood saw the body at 7:30 a.m. and called police, Baur said. The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy, Baur said.
Police do not know how long the body had been at the site and will not say how many times the man was stabbed, Baur said.
"That is information pertinent to the investigation, not for public release at this stage," Baur said, adding that "it's too soon to tell" whether the stabbing was gang-related or whether the man had been robbed.
Police have not yet determined where and when the stabbing occurred, Baur said.
"We're at the very beginning of the investigation and so any input from the public would certainly be beneficial," she said.
The victim is described as a thin man who appears to have been 18 to 35 years old, possibly Asian or Hispanic, with a thin build and short black hair. He was wearing a black jacket and jeans.
