A 5-year-old Owings Mills girl died of injuries suffered in a car crash Sunday evening in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring, Montgomery County Police reported.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a Toyota Camry driven by Danielle Elizabeth Pierre, 32, of Owings Mills was making a left turn from southbound Georgia Avenue to eastbound Forest Glen Road when it was struck on the passenger side by a Isuzu Rodeo traveling north on Georgia Avenue, driven by Marbin Alfredo Gomez Delgado, 24, of Annandale, according to Montgomery County Police, who arrived at the scene with fire and rescue units about 6:10 p.m.

The force of the collision caused the Toyota to spin across the intersection and strike a Ford Ranger that was waiting in the westbound lanes of Forest Glen Road at the traffic light, according to police.

The drivers of the Isuzu and the Toyota were both taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

In the rear seat of the Toyota, two girls aged 2 months and 5 years old were in their child safety seats. Both were taken to the hospital but the 5-year-old, Raquel Pierre, who was seated at the point of impact in the right rear seat, died of injuries from the collision, police said.

Raquel Pierre was transported to Children's Hospital, said Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. The driver of the Ford Ranger was not injured, according to police.

The collision remains under investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit of the Montgomery County Police.
