After a series of events threatened the Poolesville Teen Center earlier this summer, the center has finally begun to see some positive signs as six residents joined the board of directors at a July 31 meeting.

The nine adults that now sit on the board surpass the minimal requirements needed for filling out the center's grant application. Without a full board of directors, the center was unable to ask the county for funding.

"Our goal now is to put together a [request for proposal] by the Aug. 30 deadline," said Jerry Klobukowski, a town commissioner who is also a teen center board member.

Although the original deadline for county teen centers to submit applications was July 27, an extension was granted just days before the deadline.

The board was scheduled to meet Tuesday night. Another meeting is scheduled for Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
