Police arrested two people July 31 in Germantown on charges related to a burglary and car theft that took place a week earlier in Gaithersburg.
Montgomery County police Officer Robert Perkins initiated a traffic stop of a 1986 Honda Accord on Alder Leaf Court at approximately 2 a.m. July 31 after he learned the car was reported stolen by running the vehicle's license plate.
The driver of the vehicle, Kelly Phillip Ambrose, 35 of no fixed address, and the front passenger, Brian Scott Mangum, 31, of no fixed address, were arrested and transported to the station.
Police say Mangum allegedly stole the car July 25 during a burglary of his parents' house in the unit block of Leafy Overlook Court in Gaithersburg. During the burglary, police say Magnum broke into the house, stole several items and later pawned them.
Magnum was charged with one count of first-degree burglary, auto theft and credit card offenses. He is being held on $25,000 bond. Ambrose was charged with auto theft, theft over $300 and drug charges. He was released on $2,500 bond.
